"Free" Healthcare!

I hear people talking at my workplace about how President Obama is going to provide "free healthcare" to everyone in the US.

Whoooooo!

They obviously don't understand how socialized healthcare works. I'm sorry, "universal" healthcare.

Doctors didn't go through years of medical school to work for free. If the government does take over health care, it'll be paying the doctors. Tell me, where do you think the government gets its money from? Ah, that's right, TAXES!

So we have one of two outcomes here:

1. The government taxes us to the point where we can't afford to buy food anymore to provide healthcare to everyone in the United States. Yaaaaay!
2. The government taxes us just a little bit more, and then rations health care. Got a bad case of flu? Eh, you'll probably live through it. There are people who REALLY need to be seen. Oh, you're seventy five years old? Well, old people get sick. That's just how it is. Sorry.

Roughly 16% of Americans are uninsured. For them, there are already hundreds of free and low cost clinics around the nation that they can go to. It may not be the best doctors or the best care but it's better than nothing. In a capitalistic, free society, the wealthy get the best and the non-wealthy don't. That's just how it works.

I don't want your universal health care. I'd rather choose my OWN doctor, and be seen when I WANT to be seen. Mr. President, stop trying to control my life.
